Following a business audit in May 2021, we engaged Alex’s business management services further to help us put the key priority areas of the report into action. Our main aim was to recruit a new Office Administrator to support the running of the business and ease pressure on existing staff. Alex supported us to draw up a job description for this new role and prepare standard operating procedures (SOPs) to document how to carry out the tasks of the role. We have continued to develop the SOPs since the new employee joined the company. Alex helped break the whole process down into smaller tasks and took the stress out of developing a new role and recruiting a new employee. Her support was invaluable.

Alex’s assessment, which was returned very quickly, showed a full understanding of my current situation and gave recommendations both for quick wins and larger adjustments that would make my working day much more comfortable.

I was very interested when Alex told me about her new venture to help small businesses to become more sustainable and to build the thinking into their business activities. Once Alex was ready we arranged a discovery call and I quickly signed up.

I attended a brilliant, thought-provoking webinar this morning, hosted by Alex Hughes of a Auxilium Business Consulting on how to begin a sustainability journey for my business.
Alex encouraged us to start by thinking about the things we already do to make our our work sustainable and greener – however small those things may be – under four different headings: environment, community, workplace and philanthropy.
While I have a long way to go before I can claim to be fully sustainable or carbon neutral, it was really encouraging to reflect on what I do at the moment – things like driving an electric car, using a renewable energy supplier, minimising travel and doing as much of my work as possible online and giving up some of my time to volunteer as a school governor.
But the most exciting bit was starting to think about the potential that I can have to reduce the impact of my business on the environment.
