Eu sempre fui um pouco cético em relação a prêmios de negócios, mas nos últimos anos, dediquei um tempo para me concentrar neles, a fim de mostrar meu negócio a cada entrada. estágio e reflexão, eu sei o porquê. suas diferentes inclinações.

Other winners and the people who organise the awards also encouraged me to take some time to collate relevant information.

So the first award entry did not make it to the finalist stage and on reflection I know why.

  • I rushed my entry
  • I didn’t have enough evidence
  • I was under the word count.

So, I set about reviewing this entry and expanded the information to make me stand out and resubmitted the following year.

I then took some time to research some other awards and entered those as well, reviewing all the questions and their different slants.

As a solopreneur, it can be quite lonely working from home on your own and sometimes you do wonder if anyone hears you, sees you and recognises your efforts. So being a finalist, runner up or winner in any awards give you such a pride and amazing recognition for all these efforts.

So if you are still wondering whether entering for an award is for you these are the reasons I think you should;

  1. It’s a great exercise in collating all the information about your business and showcasing results and the impacts that you and your business makes.
  2. It increases your visibility and attracts people to you. The awards show that you have been recognised by an outside organisation.
  3. There are huge networking opportunities with people inside and outside of your industry when you attend these events and form collaborations with like-minded people.
  4. It boosts your morale and motivates you to do more and of course being recognised gives you a sense of pride.
  5. People get to know like and trust you building immense credibility.
  6. Excellent marketing opportunities are created with PR and Social media etc.
  7. The whole process is a learning curve and helps you to showcase your unique offerings and stand out from the crowd.
  8. Even if you don’t win the coveted title, you have gained exposure with long-lasting effects.

What are my top tips?

  • Do some research to find the right awards for you and branch out from local to national too.
  • Understand the criteria so that your submission is aligned.
  • Gather your evidence and do not rush the application, so start early.
  • Tell your unique story in the answers.
  • Add specific examples such as statistics to show growth and the impacts and results of your work.
  • Follow the instructions e.g. word limits, deadlines, formats, attachments, images and videos.

  • Proofread your entry before submission for grammar and spelling.
  • Highlights things that make you unique and stand out from the others who are entering.
